Meme

One of my favorite twins blogs (though she writes about lots of other stuff, too) is by Helen at Everyday Stranger. She just got tagged to do a meme and invited her readers to play along: Go to your 6th file of photos on your computer and select the 6th picture.

Here is mine:

This is a picture of me and my little brother, Billy, eating ice cream cones in Sausalito. It was taken 8 years ago, when he was visiting me on a college break. What strikes me about seeing this picture now is how much HADN'T happened yet. Oh, the innocence! The freedom! The ability to fit into clothes two sizes smaller than the ones I wear now!

I wasn't married (I had probably just started dating my husband), didn't have the twins, didn't have my house, my grandparents were still alive. I could never have imagined when this picture was taken the life I have now. And my brother was just a college kid then. He just got married in September, so a lot hadn't happened to him yet, too.

This was fun, thanks Helen!

What a sweet photo.

And I play the "what if/back then" game all the time, too. Isn't it wild to look back ten years ago with where you are now, and know that there was no way ever that you would have seen the future you have today?

Hi Kelly! I'm Miller's Mom, Stephanie.

Thanks so much for your comment! I just got started reading your blog & I wish I could just call you up for a chat!

I have only read a few posts but I am going to read the rest a.s.a.p. Your post about having lunch w/ a former coworker hit me like a ton of bricks. We are still having these same conversations with people and depending on who they are, the explanations vary.

Miller was diagnosed with Mild to Moderate CP earlier this year and it came as a shock. Partially because no one had mentioned it yet (using terms like increased tone, motor delays, etc), and partially b/c it came out so matter-of-factly. The doctor said it to us like it was so obvious...as obvious as the sky being blue, grass being green. We actually try not to use that term too often b/c it's only a name. A label. It does not describe Miller at all. It automatically conjures up visions of wheelchairs and well, a lot of other scary things.

Anyway, Miller is a great kid and like Drake, we just don't know where he's going to be or when :) I think having Lucy is SO great for him though!!

Here is my email address is you want to email me directly : stephaniepeoples@gmail.com

We will be following you guys from now on!

Have a great Thanksgiving!

Stephanie P :)

I play that "Wow, I could have never imagined what the future held for me" game too when I look at old photos. It makes me a little sad, but then I think about how lucky I am and that things could have been so much worse with Max and I get ahold of myself.
